Bailte Slachtmhara/Tidy Towns 2021

1 TT competition

Its nearly upon us –  asking all to help out with: tidying their own patch or area close by to their home: roadside weeds, painting, maintaining of flower beds around our community, litter picking and marine litter – Many hands make light work and will make a difference – your help is welcomed and appreciated   Thank you

2  Community environment action  fund:

Thank you to KCC for the grant received of €500 – a new sign and flower bed will be erected at Kilmore cross in the coming weeks. (this project got delayed due to Covid 19 – any volunteers willing to help very welcome)

 3  New Graveyard 

Thank you to Kerry Co Council for supplying the paint and to CFLT and to John Dowd and Paudie Greaney for the transformation on the new Graveyard walls fantastic work – it looks great.

4 Church car park wall:

The East wall of the Church car park was re plastered in in 2020 – this will be painted in the coming weeks

5 Green area in Cloghane by old Dance Hall

This area has been spruced up – new low growing evergreen shrubs and wildflower seeds have been sowed to encuorage butterflies and bees. Thank you to all who helped out in this project.

6 KWD recycling week on 22nd -30th May 2021

 The TT group along with many volunteers, old and new volunteers, National school children from the local community partook in the ( collecting litter from the roadsides and on our beaches) – 60 bags of rubbish was collected – Thank you to all who participated and have “adopted a road/ area” close by to their home. Thank you Killarney Waste Disposal (KWD) for collecting to take away afterwords.

7 O Callaghans Nature Garden

On the edge of the sea as you approach Cloghane for all to enjoy the peace and tranquility – sit for a moment and enjoy- We have plans to erect a gate and fence in the near future to make this safer for families who visit the garden.

8 Japanese Knotweed:

Much consultation and a survey has taken place in the last two years with regard to formulating a plan in eradicating Japanese Knotweed in our community – work in progress and is on going

9 Townlands:

All the place names of the townlands in our community have been re-painted this year – Thank you to Fiona Woods – looking lovely and clean and visible.
