Féile Lúghnasa 23 – 27.07.2020

Clochán-Bréanainn, Co Chiarraí/Cloghane-Brandon Co. Kerry

Ní fada uainn Lúnasa gur féile an fhómhair í a théann siar thar dhá mhíle bliain go dtí tréimhse na gCeilteach in Éirinn, agus ceiliúrann muintir an Chlocháin agus an Leith Triúigh an fhéile thábhachtach go dtí ár linn féin. Ar an Domhnach deireanach d’Iúil, ceiliúrann pobail ar leith ar fud na tíre an fhéile le dreapadh go barr sléibhe mar oilithreacht, ina measc, Cruach Phádraig Mhaigh Eo agus ár gCnoc Bréanainn fhéin.
Domhnach Crom Dubh a thugtar ar an nDomhnach seo. Féile réamhChríostachta ab ea é i dtús báire, ach chuir na luathChríostaithe an fhéile in oiriúint dá gcreideamh, agus luadar Naomh Breandán/Bréanainn léi sa dúthaigh seo. Leanann go leor scéalta an fhéile thábhachtach seo, ina measc scéal Crom Dubh – finscéal áitiúil atá lán de dhrámaíocht.
Bliain ar leith í seo dúinn uile de bharr Covid-19. Is tréimhse imníoch í de bharr cúrsaí sláinte, agus dá bharr sin ceiliúrfaimid Féile Lúnasa na bliana seo ar líne, ionas gur féidir linn teacht le chéile mar phobal fiú má bhímid scartha ó chéile le linn dúinn fanacht slán sa bhaile.
I measc na n-imeachtaí a eagrófar beidh comórtais ar líne don óige agus do dhaoine fásta, idir scríbhneoireacht chruthaitheach, ealaín, tógáil caisleán gainimh, rás lachain beoite agus go leor eile! Mar bharr air sin, ar an gcuma chéanna, eagrófar scéalaíocht, seisiúin ceoil agus tráth na gceist ar líne, chun an fhéile a choimeád beo agus lena linn chun ár misneach a choinneáil suas.

Lughnasa is a harvest festival, which dates back over two thousand years to the Celtic period in Ireland. On the last Sunday of July, people climb the most important mountain tops in Ireland, Croagh Patrick and Mount Brandon, to attend ceremonies. In Cloghane and Brandon, Lughnasa is celebrated on the last Sunday of July known as Domhnach Crom Dubh or Crom Dubh Sunday. This festival was later adapted by the Early Christians and it became associated with St. Brendan.
