Welcome to our Celtic festival of Féile Lughnasa 2019. Lughnasa is a harvest festival, which dates back over two thousand years to the Celtic period in Ireland. On the last Sunday of July, people climb the most important mountain tops in Ireland, Croagh Patrick and Mount Brandon, to attend ceremonies. In Cloghane and Brandon, Lughnasa is celebrated on the last Sunday of July known as Domhnach Crom Dubh or Crom Dubh Sunday. This festival was later adapted by the Early Christians and it became associated with St. Brendan. This family fun festival has something for everyone!
Are you a fan of art classes? Tug of War? Hiking? or even a competitive pub quiz? Well this is the festival for you! With beach events for kids and dramas and trad sessions for adults, it’s a festival for everyone to get involved!
The committee of Féile Lughnasa would like to take this opportunity to extend a thank you to all Kerry County Council, Fáilte Ireland, our Sponsors, Judges, Local Businesses, invaluable Volunteers, and everyone who has helped in any way to make Féile Lughnasa a success.
